CIS refunds in Belfast
Belfast has the harbour estate and the city-centre work behind it, which between them keep a steady flow of subcontract labour going. Trades travel in from right across the north for those jobs, and the van getting them there is their own cost.
Subcontractors around Belfast and across the counties carry their own tools, van and materials, just like anywhere else in Northern Ireland. Under CIS the contractor deducts 20% from their labour up front, as an advance payment towards their tax.
